There is So many different varieties of things you are able to do in Tucson AZ for all age groups, younger to older! There so for the younger kids, the colleges for the /earlier adults. Bars and clubs for the 21+
THis region is Sun and Warmth for many snowbirds that want duel residency, or
to retire here full time. It is also affordable for the retired community or those on a fixed income !Tourism supports the economy, and people of all ages are friendly and welcoming.Unlike Palm Springs, Ca, you can afford the gas you put in your car, and the groceries you buy to eat.
Everyone in our community lends a helping hand to those needing extra assistance.
Our city is considered a retirement state. Snow birds like it here because of our weather except our summers are pretty brutal.
Tucson's weather, and Arizona's relative affordability and low tax rate make it a good choice for retirees. For those with sufficient financial resources, there's an abundance of engineered communities for independent seniors and assisted living facilities, which provide recreational and social activities , have good sidewalks for walking, have excellent security , and provide transportation to community members, who cannot drive. Medical care is readily accessible, although there are long waits for specialist care. Educational activities are available through adult education programs sponsored by the University of Arizona, the JCC, and other community organization. Rich cultural and outdoor activities , and volunteer opportunities, are readily available. There are numerous faith organizations that are welcoming to seasonal residents - making Tucson very accommodating to snowbirds. All in all, for seniors who are relatively well off, Tucson is a great city; however, for the poor elderly , who rely on public resources, Tucson - and Arizona , in general, are not great choices. There is a dearth of government subsidized and section 8 housing, public transportation is unreliable and can be very unsafe for vulnerable riders, the city's crime rate is high, and public assistance programs are limited and often have long waiting lists. There are very few public ally funded - and well-regulated- assisted living facilities, and disabled, dependent seniors often must reside in private assisted living homes where the quality of care is highly variable. The city itself has few sidewalks, public parks are frequently not well- patrolled and can be unsafe, and there are relatively few low or no- cost educational, cultural, and social activities available in the community. So, although Tucson is a desirable retirement community,, and is age friendly for financially secure seniors, there are better communities for the poor elderly.
