Community engagement is A+. There are events (free and paid) every weekend at the community park.
In terms of livability: Stand alone houses where the homeowners have to do upkeep/maintenance to the landscaping and the home itself. It would be better if they took care of the front yard. Albeit, there isn't too much to care for. Auto drip system for plants and much of it is zero-scaped.
I would say this this is NOT a retirement or senior community, but a place where families can raise their children. This is in the Vail school district, so many parents want to send their kids to school here.
I believe alot of people come to Tucson because of its climate, alot of older individuals prefer the warm weather
Located centrally, residential area, bus line not far, near UOA which offers lectures, music, culture and it is on the bike path! Near Himmel Library, great place to check out books and read them in the park. Reid Park has a nice pond to watch ducks and various types of birds, lots of walking space! We have a neighborhood association that keeps us informed about important activities in our area.
Recently I was at St. Mary's Hospital and I observed from the curb a younger staff member "pushing" my wife's vehicle with his truck and honking his horn at her. When confronted, he used vulgar language, calling me an "Old Man". I sometimes feel the "Ageist" attitudes of some of the younger members of the neighborhood, with the lack of respect that should be afforded to anyone, let alone someone who is older.
After careful consideration, I would highly recommend my community for overall prime location for senior living. One, because I know several people who have relocated here for their golden years, the reason they site is the beautiful year round weather. Two, because the community has free shuttles and numerous nonprofits for seniors from health and housing to social activities to take advantage of. It truly is a cut above and we are extremely blessed to have these positive amenities in our community.
