The Phoenix area has gotten much more expensive to live over the last several years. Transportation is mainly busses and we have a lightrail system but not enough routes yet. Community colleges and four year institutions are readily available to all.
Not enough low-cost housing for Seniors and not enough half-time or part-time jobs for Seniors.
Not a lot of opportunities for older citizens. In fact, not a lot of chances to be hired by anyone because of your age.
Phoenix is a haven for snow birds - from October through April our city welcomes these folks with open arms as they certainly add to our economy- they dont need a part time or full time job as they come for the warm weather and activities & major events the city also hosts- they will volunteer so they can meet new friends and for something to do- their seasonal visits provide local merchants to look for part time help, unfortunately the hourly wages are often less than minimum wage - over the age of 50, Seniors work twice as hard to get a little extra income. This city definitely hires milinials cause most young adults need two jobs to keep up with the economy, family and educational expenses. Unfortunately they are not as dependable as Seniors over 50. I wish merchants would raise the pay scale for Seniors who are dependable, experienced, honest and trustworthy.
