Philadelphia, an old* city, is very age-friendly, especially within it's art scene. I have made some of my first mature friendships in Philadelphia with people who are 40 to 60+. From going to art shows at the Fleisher Olman Gallery to working with older artist in nonprofit organizations such as Spiral Q. I also went to Tyler School of Art of Temple University, where grad students who I shared classes with were much older than me. Just from these classes, I formed relationships in ways that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It is very common to see older generations in concert with younger generations particually in the Philadelphia art scene. There are also many senior centers and hubs in every part of the town, from the yoga studios and pubs outside Center City to the restaurants, museums, and attractions within. Last, public transit which is used by everyone. It is always accessible to the elderly and the physically and mentally handicapped.
