The Memphis Aging Commission offers programs that make a difference in the lives of all older adults and adults living with disabilities. From the older person who can remain at home if they receive the right services to those who are healthy and can benefit from the activities and socialization provided by our community-based programs, such as senior centers. Services include:
- Caregiver Information: Caregiver Information educates agencies, consumers, and caregivers about their roles and provides needed resources to them. It is important for caregivers to understand conditions, such as dementia, and to identify services to assist with specific needs.
- Homemaker Services: Services consisting of general household activities and chores and errands essential to the consumer's care are provided by a trained homemaker when the consumer is unable to perform such activities.
- Senior Volunteer Transportation Network: This program partners with agencies across the service area to connect senior riders with verified volunteers for transportation that is affordable, available, and accessible.

I live in a community where people go to work. I live on a bus route. And several store.
Memphis TN does not have a plethora of opportunity to start with, in particular if you weren't born here. The people who were born here and went to college here have leg up on transplants. They larger employers like FedEx and International Paper do not open its doors to older individuals. I would NOT recommend this city to retirees for relocation.
I feel Memphis is age friendly. A great amount of good citizens reside here. I believe this is a friendly zone for new arrivals wishing to relocate.
We are a very close neighborhood, friendly neighbors treat each other like family
