Lexington, consolidated with Fayette County and often denoted as Lexington-Fayette, is the second-largest city in Kentucky and the 60th-largest city in the United States. The city has four centers that provide services and activities for Lexington seniors. Services Include:

Lexington Senior Center: The Lexington Senior Center is home to a variety of activities and services for all Fayette County citizens ages 60 or older.

Educational Programs: AARP Driver Refresher Courses, Aging Support Group, Book Club, History Classes

Available Assistance: The Lexington Senior Center has three Master's level social workers on staff available to provide information, assistance, advocacy and brief counseling. Call the center to set up an appointment and get more information

I live in an apartment complex where everything is done communally recently that was on the 25th of July we had our yearly jam.We have our resident council meeting every month and at the end of the year,we have end of the year party.We also go on site seeing which is always undertaken by the resident council.The local transportation goes through and back through our apartment complex.

How did Kentucky earn the grade of B+? We examined the state taxes based on how age friendly they are. Kentucky has a state sales tax of 6.00%. Of particular interest is that Kentucky does not have taxes on social security. There are no estate taxes. There are taxes imposed on inheritance. Kentucky has an effective property tax rate of 0.85%. Weighing these taxes and other taxes most likely to impact the aging population is how Kentucky earned its state tax grade of B+.
