Nassau County Council on Aging Services:
1. Senior Life Centers: The Senior Life Centers in Fernandina Beach and Hilliard offer those 60 and older assistance, information and support, as well as a variety of fun and engaging activities, plus opportunities to socialize.
2. Adult Day Healthcare: This program is available in our Fernandina Beach Senior Life Center. We are licensed by the state of Florida to care for adults suffering from dementia or early-stage Alzheimer’s who are in need of daily supervision.
3. Home Health Services: Home Health Services provide additional assistance some senior citizens need who wish to continue living in their homes, but need extra help to do so. Home Health staff are highly trained healthcare professionals.
4. Meals on Wheels: The Meals on Wheels program serves Nassau County Florida. It addresses the growing threat of hunger among the elderly. Many individuals would not have enough to eat without the meals delivered regularly by a team of dedicated volunteers.

How did Florida earn the grade of A? We examined the state taxes based on how age friendly they are. Florida has a state sales tax of 6.00%. Of particular interest is that Florida does not have taxes on social security. There are no estate taxes. There are no taxes imposed on inheritance. Florida has an effective property tax rate of 1.02%. Weighing these taxes and other taxes most likely to impact the aging population is how Florida earned its state tax grade of A.
