Syracuse () is a city in and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York, in the United States. It is the fifth most populous city in the state of New York following New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, and Yonkers. At the 2010 census, the city population was 145,252, and its metropolitan area had a population of 662,577. It is the economic and educational hub of Central New York, a region with over one million inhabitants. Syracuse is also well-provided with convention sites, with a downtown convention complex. Syracuse was named after the original Greek city Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian), a city on the eastern coast of the Italian island of Sicily.
The city has functioned as a major crossroads over the last two centuries, first between the Erie Canal and its branch canals, then of the railway network. Today, Syracuse is located at the intersection of Interstates 81 and 90, and its airport is the largest in the region. Syracuse is home to Syracuse University, a major research university, as well as Le Moyne College, a nationally recognized liberal arts college. In 2010, Forbes rated Syracuse fourth in the top 10 places in the U.S. to raise a family.

I've been here in Syracuse since 1983. My reasons for being here were "supposed to be" temporary. Life happened, and here I am 40 years later; it wasn't the plan. I have Iiterally watched the fall of Syracuse. Whether it was good jobs leaving, attitude changes or a huge lack of respect for the elderly, for some of us, certain people treat you like you're already dead. I have only my own experiences to draw from, and that would be that certain people in certain areas (family or not), feel that they have no issues compared to the less fortunate. Also, they couldn't care less about helping someone in need. In a nutshell, just being a senior citizen gets you passed over for decent jobs, among other things. This type of disconnect and lack of caring makes it extremely difficult to have any quality of life to engage in; at least for me. I was 21 when I came here. I will be 61 this coming April 2023. If it would be determined that a position with your company would be a good fit for both of us, I would certainly be able to relate to the perils of growing old, especially when you're alone in the world. Unfortunately, it's too late for me to leave Syracuse. I don't have the wherewithal to make that happen, but while I'm still here, I continue to try to find some kind of purpose. Hopefully, "Mature Caregivers" can help me do that. I cared for my Mother (without help from my siblings, I might add) until she passed in 2008. We lived together for many years and when she died, my entire world blew up. Without her to care for, I learned the true definition of loneliness!
