San Francisco, officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. The consolidated city-county covers an area of about 46.9 square miles, mostly at the north end of the San Francisco Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is the fourth-most populous city in California, and the 13th-most populous in the United States

The Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) coordinates services for older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, and their families to maximize safety, health, and independence. Services Include:
  1. Access + Empowerment: Find resources to make sure you receive the benefits and services you are entitled to. Includes: DAAS Benefits And Resources Hub County Veterans Service Office

  2. Care + Support: Find in-home care and other support for seniors, people with disabilities, and others in need. Includes: In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)

How did California earn the grade of C? We examined the state taxes based on how age friendly they are. California has a state sales tax of 7.25%. Of particular interest is that California does not have taxes on social security. There are no estate taxes. There are no taxes imposed on inheritance.
