Raleigh is the capital of the state of North Carolina and the seat of Wake County in the United States.
Raleigh is known as the "City of Oaks" for its many oak trees, which line the streets in the heart of the city. Raleigh can be a tremendous place for older adults to live for many reasons:

- Active adult communities: Raleigh and the surrounding areas have a variety of active adult communities and retirement communities designed specifically for older adults. These communities often offer amenities, social activities, and services that are great for residents.
- Cultural and recreational opportunities: Raleigh boasts a thriving arts and cultural scene with museums, theaters, art galleries, and music venues. The city is also known for its parks, green spaces, and outdoor recreational activities, providing opportunities for leisure and physical activity.
- Mild climate: Raleigh experiences a mild climate, with hot summers and relatively mild winters. The moderate weather can be appealing to those who prefer to avoid extreme temperatures.

So where I live I can walk to two groceries stores within 2 blocks, a walgreens and a ton of other stores.
I'm certain areas are quiet for the older generations
When I moved here nineteen years ago, I encountered friendly people and a multitude of quality services, unlike Upstate NY. The opportunities for work were more expansive epecially in the area of interest--data analysis. People were helpful and wonderfully diverse. I found that my interests and goals were changing due to expanded opportunities in all areas of living in Raleigh. I began leaning toward new and different interests, like helping people as I was helped. Priorities have changed and more match the culture of the South--warm, welcoming, beautiful landscapes, and again the diversity which is very exciting and a source of learning.
There are quite a few retired people in the neighborhood. It's close to most amenities and near a major highway.
