I chose somewhat age friendly because there are several programs in my community for the elderly. We have community programs like exercise classes and arts and crafts. We also have a large number of live in care takers.
I don't see a problem with age for i have worked with the young and old
People are friendly of anyone, not just the elderly.
From an economic standpoint, no. Mount Airy is a mill town. Most of our textile mills have shut down or gown overseas. It is a treadmill town for people to come to retire, though. It is quiet with rural, farming communities outside the city limits.
This town is fairly age unfriendly. There are little opportunities to grow as a child or young adult/teen and schools push going straight to the workforce on a lot of students. Testing is expensive and there are little opportunities to pursue to get these fees waived for those who cannot afford it. I also think that some students are not disciplined or led in the right direction and can lead to problems such as behaviorally or physiologically.
