In 1650, it was incorporated as a town under its original Indian name, Mattabeseck. It received its present name in 1653. Middletown was included within Hartford County upon its creation on May 10, 1666. In 1784, the central settlement was incorporated as a city distinct from the town. Both were included within newly formed Middlesex County in May 1785. In 1923, the City of Middletown was consolidated with the Town, making the city limits of the city quite extensive.

Good views on the area. The area I'm trying to move into. It's a mixture of all races and also kids and schools around the area.

We have decent resources and recreation for all different ages because historically we have very diverse restaurants and activities for all ages in and around the surrounding towns.

There are plenty of resources that the community is provided. There are colleges and local schools that support financial aid and other money sources. People work with each other and are friendly and supportive.

I moved here 35 years ago reluctantly because I had a little boy that needed a lot of medical attention and I wanted him close as possible to a place that took the time to give him the best care possible. Sadly he was unable to grow up despite everything Middlesex hospitals best efforts. But I soon realized that this city aka forest city had the most beautiful parks and was very forward moving in creating a city that actually could not do enough for its seniors too.

John Adams called Middletown one of the most beautiful cities. It continues to be that academically and socially. I came for the service but I stay because of the love and beauty. A great place for artist inspirational . It doesn't hurt that the city is only 30 minutes in all directions to fun, adventure,

Businesses would find this the perfect location because it is in the center of everything you could want to grow really quickly.

Relatively safe but not enough lighting and sidewalks....not many part time jobs for seniors...one senior center and services but is really not a senior focused community..widest main street in new england...wesleyan and middlesex community college are the two colleges here andvthey do offer Non credit courses for seniors....climate harsh in winter.....
