Information and Assistance: specialists provide information on topics of importance to older adults and persons with disabilities such as housing, financial eligibility for programs, in-home services and long term care options.

Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program: counselors help individuals to understand Medicare & Medicaid, enroll in Medicare prescription drug coverage, review supplemental insurance needs, apply for Medicaid or Medicare Savings programs, and provide information to help identify and report fraud, abuse or scams. State capitol with Michigan State University in the eastern suburb. Although the public schools are not rated very highly, this particular elementary school is one of three English as second language buildings in the district, and the teacher with whom I worked was very well qualified and very competent. The children in her class room exhibited the usual range of abilities, but were attentive, cooperative and generally involved in learning.

The thing that makes Lansing, MI age friendly is a tremendous amount of diversity and a mindset conducive to age friendliness. I am aware of and take part in many programs designed for my age group including educational, recreational and entertainment opportunities. This is true for the entire metropolitan area.
