Kernersville is a town in Forsyth County, in the U.S. state of North Carolina. A small portion of the town is also in Guilford County. The population was 23,123 at the 2010 census, up from 17,126 at the 2000 census. Kernersville is located at the center of the Piedmont Triad metropolitan area, between Greensboro to the east, High Point to the south, and Winston-Salem to the west. Some of the rural farmland surrounding the town has been sold and turned into large middle-to-upper-class housing developments, and numerous large shopping centers have been built in the town over the past few years. Flue-cured tobacco was the major crop grown in the area and is still grown in some areas today. While Kernersville went through a growth spurt in the first decade of the 21st century, it has leveled off and farms are doing well for the most part in an attempt to revitalize the agricultural community.

KERNERSVILLE, NC is a great place to live if you like small towns where
The people are kind, polite, and friendly. The town atmosphere is a feeling of community that cares about their neighbors. We don't meet strangers here.
I found out very quickly how friendly the people are. One morning my husband was taking me to work and we got a flat tire while traveling, we were only a few miles from home but I HAD to be at work, we pulled over to the side of the road and while we were waiting for triple A to come a line of cars were at the stop light, I saw a woman driving with 2 young people in the back seat so I ran over to the car introduced myself and asked her if she was going to Winston Salem
She said "yes I am" so I asked If she would give me a ride to work and could she drop me off at Wake Forest Cancer Center she said "of course I can I'll be happy to drive you" so I hopped in the front seat and off we went. My husband told me I was crazy to be gritting in a car with a total stranger. During the ride I met her teen age daughter and son that was sitting in the back of the car. It was a 25 min tide to my job but we laughed and talked the entire time it was as if we had been friends for years..!!! When we arrived at my job I thanked her and and we aid our good-byes. 2 weeks later I was grocery shopping and this pretty young girl came up to me with a big warm smile and asked me had I been in anymore strangers cars.... we both laughed because it turns out it was the teen age daughter of the women that drove me to work when my car broke down...!!. Because of that encounter we all became good friends. That 's the kind. Of people that live in the small town of KERNERSVILLE, NC
