Jacksonville is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Florida and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States.

Nassau County Council on Aging Services:

1. Senior Life Centers: The Senior Life Centers in Fernandina Beach and Hilliard offer those 60 and older assistance, information and support, as well as a variety of fun and engaging activities, plus opportunities to socialize.

2. Adult Day Healthcare: This program is available in our Fernandina Beach Senior Life Center. We are licensed by the state of Florida to care for adults suffering from dementia or early-stage Alzheimer’s who are in need of daily supervision.

3. Home Health Services: Home Health Services provide additional assistance some senior citizens need who wish to continue living in their homes, but need extra help to do so. Home Health staff are highly trained healthcare professionals.

4. Meals on Wheels: The Meals on Wheels program serves Nassau County Florida. It addresses the growing threat of hunger among the elderly. Many individuals would not have enough to eat without the meals delivered regularly by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Very unfriendly people. Very difficult to find any job if you're 55 plus. Even a volunteer job! They discriminate even if they hear how Old your voice sounds on a telephone interview. Terrible place for middle aged people to live or work

Ample medical facilities and generally pleasant weather. Immediate neighbors are cordial, but there are no neighborhood activities

Jacksonville, Florida is great when you are half my age and education is a key role, so at my age it's kind of below par as full-time position. Part Timers are plentiful, as well as theirs jobs. "Big Box Stores" are being created everywhere here as the city keeps growing. The city roads do not change hardly at all even though there's a great need to expand.

Jacksonville, FL is a conservative place, the crime rate is a little high, but overall it is a good place to retire and I do not see a significant discrimination toward age 65 and over.
