There are lots of elderly people in Hillsboro
this place is age friendly besides some of the places and things arent accessible to older age people
No, retirement isnt enough, health coverage for some isnt enough. I worked in a hot factory with one of the nicest older men I've met in my life thus far, he had to of been 75, and I just remembered it being physically hard for myself to do the work mind you I had been there 4 or 5 months too.. he said he didnt have a choice he had to come out of retirement from being a teacher at a local school just to pay for health insurance. That's a mind blowing, we work our whole life to continue working when we are barely holding on.. there has to be some other way...
There are a few restaurants downtown, but most are located on the North end of town and not walkable. The movie theater is located on the North end as well. The library is not conveniently located, but could be walkable from downtown if you are in good physical condition. No reliable public transportation. Quality healthcare could be a problem since the city lacks in Specialty clinics; and Physicians don't seem to stick around very long.
Just a very friendly town to shop in,go out to eat in,had no problems with this town
