I would include the following as indicative of the Fitchburg-area being fairly strong re "age friendliness." 1) Strong family bonds in which family members (neighbors, friends, relatives, etc.) typically offer support to one another (including their elderly population) over the course of the life span; 2) There's a good deal of "elderly-specific" activities (and) opportunities for socialization; 3) The resources available for seniors is pretty good in Fitchburg, as they are in all of MA. (There are, of course, gaps in certain areas). There does seem to be support in all of the areas noted above in question 7). An exemplary example of "age friendly" > The "Sundial" (where I've lived since 2019) is an excellent example of "age friendliness." It's available to people age 62 yo and over, is affordable, has an excellent management staff that places a high priority on cultivating a sense of safety, mutual care, and community. The worker staff is also excellent. There's a very competent social worker professional on staff who is available to all tenants. There's an "in house" calendar of events that is focused on creatively addressing the needs/preferences of the tenants.
It has a lot of places near by.
