Coral Springs, officially the City of Coral Springs, is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States, approximately 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Fort Lauderdale. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a population of 121,096. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census.
The city, officially chartered on July 10, 1963, was master-planned and primarily developed by Coral Ridge Properties, which was acquired by Westinghouse in 1966. The city's name is derived from the company's name, and was selected after several earlier proposals had been considered and rejected. Despite the name, there are no natural springs in the city; Florida's springs are found in the central and northern portions of the state.During the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s the young city grew rapidly, adding over 35,000 residents each decade. Coral Springs has notably strict building codes, which are designed to maintain the city's distinctive aesthetic appeal. The city government's effective fiscal management has maintained high bond ratings, and the city has won accolades for its overall livability, its low crime rate, and its family-friendly orientation.

Easy access to shopping, highways, airport, not too congested. Growing community since 1980's, staying (mostly) on top of development. Good schools, government keep community involved.

Coral Springs has always been age friendly,
i have lived here since I was in my twenties and watched my parents and sister become seniors in this town. I myself am now considered a senior. There are plenty of Senior friendly recreational activities as well as safety and transportation features in Coral Springs. On the other side of the spectrum there are also plenty of kid friendly activities too.

Coral Springs is a community for families and it is popular as far as some of the best schools. Many families move into the area to take advantage of the parks for recreation as well as various activities, clubs, outlets for children including movies, outdoor pools and beaches. Families of all ages live in this area which is why is is age friendly. The real estate speaks volume as most of the homes are single family dwellings with lots of gardens and space for the family outdoors. Public transportation is available and is easy accessible for everyone but most family prefer to own private cars and the price of obtaining a car is affordable. Jobs are accommodating for families and there is much flexibility and child care programs. Overall, shopping and supermarkets are in reach as well as doctors and necessary care and church. The community is engaging as in the case of school shooting at Stoneman Douglas a few years ago. The community continue to mourn and to this day you will find flyers and support on the bumper stickers of cars and on windows of stores in solidarity.
