Community engagement, school district

I live off of Farm to Market (FM) 1488 in an apartment complex. Next door to me is a new Independent Living Senior Community.

There they have a bus which is part of the fee to live there. Where I live one does need to have a car and drive to places.

FM 1488 is a very busy road during rush hours. This makes it difficult to drive for some people

who might have disabilities while driving  The positive is there is a lot of shopping and restaurants near by.  However the community is only what one makes of it.  I feel unnoticed.

I am an extrovert and engage with people but it's so busy that people don't really put a lot of effort into staying connected.  I would like it more if there were people who would stay in touch but most people seem unwilling to reach out.  I think that makes it difficult for seniors.

traffic very heavy where I live. Its dangerous for senior drivers and its a four lane highway with a middle lane for making cross overs or turns. Seniors living here have to use Uber, Lyft or taxis aside from friends, relatives or drive themselves. There is no community engagement at my apartments because seniors are not the target audience. One could walk if healthy enought to a restaurant here but its a bit priciy for everyday meals. One needs a ride for groceries, doctor appointments, ect. I am able bodied at this time yet I have friends that live here that tell me they are just waiting to die. Its boring for them and lonley. I realize this is what have to look forward to unless I become wealthy. Especially since COVID19, people have been isolated, relying on famiy and friends they have but for seniors its very sad. Family and friends can get burned out too while trying to survice and meet the needs of their aging family members. Our society is very harsh to those with limited incomes and options.

Respect is shown to seniors here, even in the language, such as "yes m'am" and "yes sir". Respectfulness is also shown in the workplace. Though I have heard that there is age discrimination in the area. I am not sure if that applies specifically to Conroe.
