Some people are friendly. So help , smile also talk with u. I love Columbia because most of the people I don't know. But some of the jobs Don't play enough money.
My community is age friendly; because of the respect each age group gives me and I see they give others. I volunteer to work with the young people and other age groups to keep our complex clean.
When my job was eliminated in 2010, I applied to over 1000 jobs, all of which asked for date of birth or if I was born before 1955 - I was unable to find any employment; and to my amazement programs to assist anyone out of work and over age 55 were non-existent or could provide no direction or resources. Public transportation in this area is very limited.
older people live here don't have to worry about loud young people loud noises or car break ins.
I believe Columbia is becoming more age friendly but could use improvement as all cities can. I know that their is a great service provided through different businesses. It is a magazine called "All About Seniors " it is complimentary. It is a resource & referral directory of the midlands.
