Clayton is a town in Johnston County, North Carolina, and considered a satellite town of Raleigh. As of 2010, Clayton's population was 16,116 people. Much of that growth can be attributed to the town's close proximity to the Research Triangle area and access to major highways such as I-40, U.S. 70, and NC 42.
In 2006, construction began on the Highway 70 Clayton Bypass, a 10.5-mile (16.9 km) stretch from Interstate 40 along the southern portion of Clayton to Highway 70 business in Smithfield. It was completed in June 2008.
Town Hall is located at 111 East Second Street and it is shared with The Clayton Center Auditorium and Conference Center.

There are NO jobs in the Clayton town area. I look every day. I am in need of a part time job and do not drive and have some disabilities.

some rentals were more affordable when we moved here 10 yrs ago, but have gone up substantially. Food costs, medications, clothing, tax costs seem higher than normal. There are NO buses, trains or subway availability in our town. It is frustrating. People seem generally nice, but we have had a difficult time making friends here...Education is less expensive for tuition costs but no discounts for seniors. I have applied for jobs off and on for years and have not gotten "one single interview" and had worked my entire adult life prior to moving here. Volunteer ops, doesn't seem like they are very available either, at least in Clayton. It is a fast growing location and has been all the time we have been here. We have tried finding jobs on your website to no avail. There is a lot of age discrimination here. We are not sure if the majority of our problems here are related to our being from the North and that people still hold old feelings towards Northerners. We would have moved back up North but after spending all our funds to move here (to help our daughter out) we just have not been able to afford to move back. The summers are brutal heat wise, the winters had been milder which was the only positive besides being near our grand kids. Sorry for such negative responses however you asked for the age friendly response from our place of residency. :(
