I have lived in Athens all my life & can't see myself living anywhere else.
the lake is a recreational setting
I believe Athens is a very age friendly town/school district. Athens ISD works hard to keep their campuses up to par with regard to TAKS expectations. Also there is a variety of extracurricular activities for students of all ages, as well as activities throughout the community that are not school related. The Henderson county public library located in Athens Texas does an excellent job of providing activities at no or low cost for students of all ages.
