How did Massachusetts earn the grade of C? We examined the state taxes based on how age friendly they are. Massachusetts has a state sales tax of 6.25%. Of particular interest is that Massachusetts does not have taxes on social security. There are estate taxes. There are no taxes imposed on inheritance. The Center is multi-purpose. The Regional Elderly Nutrition Program provides meals each week day at the center. Ongoing services and programs are many and varied: direct Case Management, Transportation, Health Clinics, Food and other Shopping Trips, Senior Citizens Clubs and Tax Assistance to name a few.
The Council continues to serve the community-at-large with the following: Clinics, Computer Classes, Town Resident Photo Senior Identification Cards, Food Bank, Blood Bank Coordination and in many other ways of public service.
