Care, working,transportation and community engagement
I have lived in this community for 15 years. I bought my home in December of 2005. My girlfriend lived with me for !0 years. She is smart as a whip. She almost completed her Masters in Psychology. The irony is she suffered from mental instability herself. She chose not to take any medication for the issue. When my mother moved back to Florida from Sedona, AZ. even though she had her own apartment she would come over to the house to visit from time to time. My girlfriend did not get along with my mother thus we went our separate ways. Less than 3 weeks later she was Baker Acted for 3 days that became 2 weeks. Her parents came up from Vero Beach to get her and take her back to Vero Beach 6 weeks later she was Baker Acted again and spent 7 months in an mental institution. There are many older individuals in the community. You would see them walking their pets or just going for a walk always taking a moment to say Hi! After my girlfriend and I parted ways I moved my mother in with me and became her assisted living and primary caregiver for over 10 years until her death on Oct. 13th 2019. She was 94 years old. Because there are so many older individuals living in the community my mother felt very welcomed.
