The community that I live in is very age friendly it ranges from children to seniors. The city provides a lot great activities for it's seniors, for example I've noticed a transportation company specifically for seniors that brings them to medical appointments, food shopping, and social events. There's also many assisted living locations in the area.

age friendly: the schools here are excellent for young students, the place is relatively easy and safe to walk around, and there is a strong bond within the community. there was a festival held over a month ago celebrating the citizens within the community, for example, and almost everyone was welcome to participate. age unfriendly: in areas of public transportation, it is readily available to all, though not always reliable or convenient. primary emphasis placed on the schools over community well-being. if an elderly person has an issue with noise levels, it often goes unnoticed.

I have been here for five weeks and am still finding my way around. So far, I have found the Council on Aging only 2 blocks away and am in the process of volunteering in some capacity with the many activities they are engaged with. I have discovered 'door-to-door' transportation services hot lunch services, exercise classes, yoga and many others. I'm looking forward to staying engaged in this area.
