Monson is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The census-designated place of Monson Center lies at the center of the town. The Council on Aging is responsible for social services for all town residents, transportation and meals for elderly, activities and educational programs for all ages. Services Include:
- Outreach Home Visits: The Outreach Coordinator will make home visits to elders and their caregivers. Visits are made to evaluate and assess needs and to determine whether a homemaker, aide or other assistance is needed to help them maintain their independence while living at home.
- Nutrition: The Monson Council on Aging operates its own kitchen where meals are prepared each weekday. Homemade desserts and breads are often included in our lunch program.
- Transportation: The Monson Council on Aging / Senior Center operates two handicapped accessible vans to provide transportation to residents age 60 and over and for those under age 60 who are physically challenged. This service operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. The van must be back at the Center by 3:00 pm.
