Erie is a city in and the county seat of Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. The city has been called the "Gem City" because of the sparkling lake. Erie won the All-America City Award in 1972, and in 2012 hosted the Perry 200, a commemoration, celebrating 200 years of peace between England, America and Canada following the War of 1812 and Battle of Lake Erie. It can be a wonderful place for older adults to live, as it contains many appealing factors:

Erie is extremely easy to get around . There are 4 universities , 2 major hospitals, low housing prices and activities galore. Lots of free concerts and beautiful sunsets.
There is Lake Erie and Presque Isle State Park for beach, boating, hiking, biking, swimming. It is the most visited state park in the country and did I say it’s FREE! There is a casino and horse racetrack, car racing There is an excellent Philharmonic, Theater, and many good and affordable restaurants. Close to state game lands for hunting and a first class ski resort. There are two top 10 water parks and Waldameer Amusement park. There is the Millcreek Mall for shopping. There is a minor league baseball team. There are lots of activities for kids like sport parks and teams to join.
All this only 5 to 20 minutes away! Erie is extremely age friendly with activities and support for all ages!

Erie has many good senior apartments, personal care facilities, nursing homes and home care services. There are services for the elderly such as the lift, meals on wheels etc.
