good residential care facilities and homes which in most part have some type of help or assistance
San Mateo is a good city for older adults as there are senior centers and senior activity programs available throughout the city. There are parks and walking trails, fitness centers, varied places to dine. It's a fairly safe city to live in, and the weather temperature is pretty moderate throughout the year which makes it comfortable for aging populations. The challenge might be transportation if a senior is unable to drive and does not have resources to get around. There are senior transportation services available, but an older person may need help in getting connected to such services.
