San Jose is a very diverse community that does not discrimate on age, education, background, etc
Light rail system & bus stops are near, work places & shopping malls are around the area, all ages live in the neighborhood, nice views, walking distance park, pet friendly & others.
Transportation is great and there are many social service organizations.
NO! New trick "age" questions now appear on recruiter employment forms such as "What year did you graduate High School? dd/mm/yyyy" and asking the last 5 numbers of SS#, etc.
Needs more jobs for younger people city needs to be more clean the streets and highways lots weds and trash

How did California earn the grade of C? We examined the state taxes based on how age friendly they are. California has a state sales tax of 7.25%. Of particular interest is that California does not have taxes on social security. There are no estate taxes. There are no taxes imposed on inheritance. California has an effective property tax rate of 0.79%. Weighing these taxes and other taxes most likely to impact the aging population is how California earned its state tax grade of C.
