In many ways this is a typical suburban community. Many acres of single family homes, with interspersed multifamily homes and shopping centers, cut in half by a freeway.
It is a warm and friendly community, but lacking in the things needed by its aging population. The transit system is inconsistant (missed pickups) and not really easy to be used by elderly people. (You need to call the bus using a small print app on your cell phone.)
This town is a bedroom community to California's capital city of Sacramento. Its demographics is very diverse and as a community it is very engaged.
Its an older military family area still. So a lot of Vets still live in the area.
People smiles and greet when you meet them, the place is clean and very close to shopping malls, schools, train and bus stations, clinics and hospitals, etc.
Low crime rate, beautiful landscape, friendly neighborhood, family oriented. I have lived in Sacramento for over 20yrs and I have come to love Rancho Cordova.
