Quincy ( KWIN-see), known as Illinois's "Gem City," is a city in and the county seat of Adams County, Illinois, United States, located on the Mississippi River. The 2010 census counted a population of 40,633 in the city itself, up from 40,366 in 2000. As of July 1, 2015, the Quincy Micro Area had an estimated population of 77,220.
During the 19th century, Quincy was a thriving transportation center as riverboats and rail service linked the city to many destinations west and along the river. It was Illinois' second-largest city, surpassing Peoria in 1870. The city has several historic districts, including the Downtown Quincy Historic District and the South Side German Historic District, which display the architecture of Quincy's many German immigrants from the late 19th century.

Nice little town to live and work in
This community does cater to the older community here, but the community is struggling to keep afloat. Many shops have closed and not reopened, and few have come back.

quincy is a great place to grow old in. the tin dusters come, gus macker, we have a sr. center that has a variety of activities for srs if they so wish to participate in. theres meals on wheels. a beauty shop is also in the sr. center. ive worked this field almost my whole adult life anc its very rewarding work. my clients just dont understand when i say they have done more for me then i could ever do for them. we will all b there one day. i just pray that when its my turn, god smiles down on me and i get a trustworthy, polite, well mannered person that truely cares about there job , the people they work for, and themselfs. if that happens, u can truely relax and live out yr days as stress-free as possible with the help of an angel on yr side.
