Oskaloosa is a city in and the county seat of Mahaska County, Iowa, United States. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, it was a national center of bituminous coal mining. The population was 11,463 in the 2010 census, an increase from 10,938 in the 2000 census.

Small community with a lot of agriculture. Many retired individuals, but also a blending of all ages, new grade school, lots of community activities. Historic square with band music on Thursday nights, Alive at 5 concerts on the square on Friday nights. Local university bring in diversity. Home of Musco lighting. Active churches in
There are 3 old schools that were remodeled and turned into beautiful apartments for the elderly. There are four nursing homes. Other than that I can't think of anything that's very age friendly.
I live in a high rise where most people are over 70 The women are friendly and eager to help each other with housework or transportation
Very livable, transportation availability, lots of restaurants.
