Not sure if the community is friendly or not, just moved here in December.
There are many age friendly businesses, cultural venues, and educational opportunities for over 55 individuals in this community, such as: YMCA, Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park, IVY Tech College, and many more. The YMCA offers discounts based on income and to individuals over 55. There are classes at the Y catered to seniors. Moreover, within walking distance to the Y are senior apartments, walking trails, a state park, a farmers market, an art center, a theater, and medical offices. The fact that this town/city has placed senior housing in the middle of art and cultural attractions illustrate the communities respect and appreciation for individuals over the age of 55. I am proud to be a resident of Lawrence.
Wide streets. Walking paths. Close to grocery stores and medical services.
I don't know the area well enough to say. Love the area trying to learn my neighbors.
