I was part of the National council on Aging for the limit of 4 years. I tried to place individuals over 55 in positions for training. I found that some businesses were not interested at all, while others would accept them for training, but would not hire them within a year. I would have to transfer them to other employers for training if not hired. Seems to me they were taking advantage of the work these individuals performed, but would not put them on the payroll. This was unfortunate, because these individuals were exceptional workers with excellent skills. They would have to exit the program after 4 years. Most times they were not hired for employment. I felt it was their age. I was saddened and disappointed.
