Dallas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. It is the most populous city in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, which is the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States.

The Dallas Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) is the department under the umbrella of the Community Council of Greater Dallas responsible for planning, advocating, coordinating resources, and providing services for seniors (persons 60+) and their caregivers in the Dallas County area.

  1. Self Management Programs: Interactive workshops focus on building your skills to deal with any ongoing health conditions, including arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, depression, emphysema, heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and other physical and mental conditions.
  2. Benefits Counceling Program: Helps seniors and caregivers understand public entitlement programs including Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Medicare and Medicaid. Benefits Specialists provide individual counseling and make referrals for assistance by telephone and at designated counseling sites.
  3. Better Choices, Better Health Dallas: Provides Seniors with Diabetes self management strategies for healthier living.

Of particular interest is that Texas does not have taxes on social security. There are no estate taxes. There are no taxes imposed on inheritance. Texas has an effective property tax rate of 1.86%. There is a continual focus on age. If you are looking in a store, the attitude when they ask if you need help is condescending. Medical personnel here are generally less concerned if you are over a certain age.

I've been around especially grocery stores and they will have a conversation if you give them the time.

Too many people are moving here, especially from California, causing prices-- especially real estate-- to escalate astronomically, as well as traffic to increase. Also causing our great Red State of Texas to turn purple. Please stay away!
