Rogers Park is one of the most diverse communities in the city of Chicago. The access to transportation is excellent. The alderman is proactive and by subscribing to her newsletter, I am kept abreast of what is happening in the neighborhood and what services or projects are underway. There are a variety of ethnic stores, hospitals, clinics, and parks all easily accessible. In addition, there are community facilities that offer educational courses and citizenship classes. One major project that is underway is the building of a new senior housing site with a library on the first floor.

Chicago is age friendly because majority of the diverse cultures that live here have high respect for their elders. For example, I take public transportation often and usually when either the bus or train is packed door to door with passengers there is always someone who gives up their seat for an elderly rider.
