Bellingham ( BEL-ing-ham) is the largest city in and the county seat of Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington. The city is known for its easy access to outdoor recreation in the San Juan Islands and North Cascades as well as proximity to the cities of Vancouver and Seattle.
A waterfront redevelopment is underway on more than 100 acres of former industrial land. with a hotel, conference center, condos, retirement living, retail and commercial development on the site. Bellingham can be a great town for older adults to live in. Here are some reasons why:

I would recommend this community to my friends because that way I will make new friends and have the opportunity to exchange learning experiences and take care of each other.

Yes, I would.  Bellingham has a lot going for it, except for the price of housing. That being said, the quality of life here is phenomenal for an older person. People smile, are friendly and polite. Older people are well-within the guidelines for body mass index (healthy weight), and there are people of all ages (and ethnicities) outdoors doing various physical activities every day--even on "bad" weather days. Numerous educational, cultural, social, and dining opportunities abound in this small city on the bay. I love it here, and wish I'd been able to move here decades ago.
