There's always something to do in Bay Shore as well as the town of Islip. I've lived out here for over 30 years and I have no intentions of leaving. Great Schools, entertainment, activities and PLENTY of transportation including restaurants!!

I believe my town is somewhat age friendly we have the bay shore mall which is great for shopping as well as the tanger outlets close by in Deer Park. Transportation is reliable with buses and shuttles all around. If you travel to the south shore of BayShore you're greeted with a beautiful marina to relax at.
I live in an unsubsidized senior complex. Suffolk Bus is 60 and over less than half fare (75 cents plus 25 cents for transfers). Long Island Railroad is half fare off peak or peak except going to NYC mornings. The Southside Hospital has a clinic but the hospital itself is not very good. Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip is much better. Not much senior opportunity for work here unless you are a trained companion or something health care related. Recreation is limited; usually some morning class at the library.
Brightwaters farms is part of the Bayshore postal district. As such we enjoy excellent schools a state of the art public library and the South Shore mall. There is something for everyone. The culture is diverse and could easily set the example for an integrated, modern neighborhood. We also are represented by a wide variety of economic levels which allows us to help each other. One of the most beautiful parks I've ever visited is a Bay Shore gem. It is Gardeners Park located at the south shore. Lovely forest strolls and access to a private beach on the bay, draw people of all ages. This is also a dog park where our fur babies can enjoy the fresh air with their families.
